Call Of Duty Morden Warfare (CoD4) Shipment Blockout Level Design in Unreal Engine 4

Call Of Duty Morden Warfare (CoD4) Shipment Blockout Level Design in Unreal Engine 4

For this project I went onto YouTube and found some gameplay of CoD4 on the map Shipment to have a quick glance at everything to make sure I haven't missed anything out, as I haven't played the map or game in a very long time. I watched two different videos all the way through then went onto Google and looked at a birds eye view of the map. I did a quick sketch of the layout and decided as it's only a small map with not a lot of objects, I would make the sketch look neater by using ruler. (For bigger projects, these will be more rough as I don't want to be wasting precious time on rough sketches, as I need as much time as possible in unreal engine, as I'm completely new to the software and I want to be working efficiently towards the deadlines I set myself). Please see all the screenshots I have taken in the game engine below, along with the direct YouTube link to my video showcasing the map.

Conclusion

This level design took me a couple of hours to do. However, I have learnt a lot about the mistakes I have made during the process of this, as I didn't use any of the BSP Geometry brushes (I just used static meshes). I also colour coded the objects as it's a small map (which I won't do in future projects) as it will be too time consuming and it isn't necessary.

After I made this level, I watched a few tutorial videos on YouTube showcasing how other people create their blockout level designs in UE4 efficiently. I learnt a lot from these videos and will definitely be taking everything on board for my future blockout level designs.

I still thought I would upload this, as it shows how I used my initiative to create a blockout level design with no research or help. I have a huge learning curve ahead of me and to push myself even further, my next project is going to be the very popular counter strike (csgo) map "Dust II" which I will start on 10/01/2020 and the deadline I'm going to set myself is 17/01/2020 giving me a week to finish.
